Formal heritage garden

A formal design for a Grade 1 Listed Hall set within an existing Parkland landscape. A large terrace to the east of the Hall was created, flanked by wide steel edged borders and planted with mature yew topiary sourced from leading topiary nurseries in The Netherlands and Belgium.  A sunken garden, on a quadrant layout was designed with a feature fountain at the centre.  Reclaimed yorkstone cobbles create a diaper pattern within the terrace and paths to link with the brickwork of the Hall.  Stone copings and steps were formed using Purbeck stone by local stonemasons. The garden is enclosed by a new mature yew hedge and borders are planted in a palette of white and purples to reflect the Jacobean period of the Hall.  Yew topiary ‘Onions’ grace the benches to each quadrant.
